In 2023 I founded the Hillside Outdoors Club, an extracurricular opportunity for students to connect with the outdoors. We received a generous grant of $10,000 from the North Carolina Youth Outdoor Engagement Commission. Since 2023, I grew club membership to over 40 students and planned and led 10+ outdoor trips, including canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, tours of animal sanctuaries, outdoor career fairs, tree climbing, and more. We partnered with community organizations to provide outdoor education through biking and swim classes, as well as support for students looking to work in the outdoor recreation field. Additionally, I worked with graphic designer Josey Stuart to design a logo and two t-shirts, a jacket, and water bottle for club fundraising in our community.
